MGMT510: Introduction to Management Dynamics Assignment 3, AIS, NZ

General guidelines

You are required to approach organisations from each of the two sectors (your lecturer will give you guidance on who to approach and how to approach them). You are to secure an interview with a member from each sector. You should also research their websites and social media platforms.

You are looking for:
a.Unique or special issues/concerns the organisation faces: (Criteria I on the marking schedule) Start by briefly introducing your chosen organisation and the issues you are going to discuss. Some examples of context might be - changes in the organisation; changes in the operating environment; social trends; influence from Government or competitors; the drive for innovation; compliance with legislation; physical environmental factors; staffing and Human Resources, Hygiene standards. Etc. You cannot cover everything. Choose two or three

b.Insights into how the organisation works. (Criteria 2 on the marking schedule) Then evaluate the operation of each organisation. For example, you could evaluate the culture of the organisation; organisational structure; how leadership works in the organisation; how decisions are made; the communication processes; how technology is used to solve organisational challenges; how te ao Mäori concepts are used; etc. You cannot cover everything. Choose two or three.

c.Management theories that you observe they are using and applying. (Criteria 3 on the marking schedule) You then write up an analysis of the management theories that you observe and how they apply these in each of the two organisations. You must choose two or three — not all of them. You must use management concepts and theories from Management literature to analyse how each organisation addresses the issues it faces and how they operate their organisations.
