Assessment

All material presented is examinable (except where stated otherwise) by assignments and the final presentation. All-important assessment information such as due dates and times, content, guidelines and so on will be discussed at lectures and, where appropriate, detailed on Microsoft Teams. Students are responsible for ensuring that they are aware of this information, keeping track of their own progress, and catching up on any missed classes.

Assignment 1: Research paper analysis.

• Select a research paper that discusses the potential for digital health relevant to your area of work or experience. First, describe the area of work/experience (5 marks) and why a digital health technology could help with a problem in that area. (5 marks).
• The describe how you searched for the paper. Which search engine did you use (Google Scholar, MEDLINE, etc.)? 
• Which keywords did you use?
• How did you choose the paper from the results? (5 marks).

Write a critique of the paper: Marks will be be awarded for using a systematic, well-structured approach (5 marks) and the overall quality of the critique (5 marks).

Assignment 2: Interoperability and Standards

• Discuss an issue or problem in your work or local context that could be addressed by applying an existing Digital Health solution. 
• Describe the search strategy and resources you used to investigate appropriate technologies (5 marks),
• describe the digital health solution (5 marks), describe how the system shares data with other systems (interoperability) (5 marks) and explain how health IT standards are (or could be) applied to address the issue/problem using the solution you have chosen. Marks will be awarded for understanding the appropriate standards needed (5 marks) and for the quality of the description of how they should be applied (5 marks)
