Assignment 1 instructions

• Overview

The purpose of this assignment is to conduct professional quality background research that forms the basis for all other assignments (Assignments 2a, 2b and assessment item 5).

For assignment 1, you will research a range of materials relevant to your chosen research topic and client problems and their transformation goals.

Starting with WP2, you analyse and clarify the client situation and identify relevant areas of issues, impacts, risk and opportunities. You will provide relevant background about the sector and the organization as well as the client problem, your initial thinking about solutions and change impacts.

Make sure that you focus on identifying how your research will help the potential client organisation or industry to achieve their transformation goals. Apply critical thinking to your analysis appropriate to describing your findings and proposing client-centred goals and objectives in your initial conclusions and recommendations.

The Output (What you will provide)
Provide a maximum six (6) page research summary covering the sections and requirements outlined below (noting what is in and out of the word count in 3.3, #6):

• A cover page with your name and student number;
• An executive summary;
• Table of contents;
• ‘Introduction’1 materials to set the strategic context of the research, including/not limited to:
• Succinct background information about the industry and organisation in the form of a succinct summary of relevant material, issues and circumstances to establish the logic (logos) of your research summary and invite the reader to continue reading.
• Other Introductory information relevant to establishing a client-centred (pathos) view of the industry and organisation and to set the scene for how your ideas will help.
