Nitrate contamination of water sources, particularly in agricultural localities, poses an enormous environmental and human health problem. The case of nitrate pollution in the water bodies of a country well known for its spectacular natural surroundings, in this case, New Zealand, has been a concern as such pollution devastates the ecosystems while posing a public health risk (Wangwang et al., 2015). This literature review examines the problems, consequences, and actions arising from controlling nitrate pollution in the New Zealand agriculture industry.
