Assessment 1 Part 2 Reflective Essay

• A reflective essay discusses personal views and/opinions on an issue or idea and/or presents personal reflections on a incident or an action to understand why something happened, how it happened, whether it was successful or not, and how it might be done differently in the future.
• Write in the first person
• Use theories, concepts, frameworks from the course to form your opinions and support your analysis and arguments
• Practice academic integrity – Include in-text citations and a reference list in APA 7th ed. format

Assessment details

• Assessment 1 Part 2 carries a 30% weight of your overall grade
• Due on Sunday, Week 5 at 11:59 pm via Turnitin on Canvas
• 800 words (+/- 10%), wordcount excludes reference list* *Yes, a reference list is necessary.

Assessment guidance

1. While the reflection requires you to draw on your experience completing the Ethical Analysis within your group, refer to the concepts, theories, and frameworks that you have learned in the course – refer to the weekly lectures, topic exercises, and readings.

2. Proper in-text citations and a reference list must be included. (e.g. “lecture

3. Weekly readings are available on Canvas-> Course Resources.

4. Because this is a reflective essay (and not a formal report), statements pertaining to the lectures and in-class activities such as “As explained in class” or “According to our lecturer” are acceptable and do not need a citation.

5. Important: Attend the one of the special Assessment Skills Workshops in
Week 4 and Week 5 for a custom-designed workshop on reflective writing
delivered by a Library Learning Advisor to specifically help you with this
assessment. See the Canvas Announcement for the date and time of these
workshops. There will be two face-to-face workshops at the city campus and
two online workshops on MS Teams.
