Assessment Aim
This individual assessment will provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of innovation and change in an organisational context, by examining an organization.
The Graduate Outcome Profile for this paper states that students will be able to apply personal and interpersonal skills to contribute to the achievement of the business operational objective. This assessment will support the development of these skills, with a written report assessment (presenting research) and an oral assessment (articulating and sharing the research).
Assessment Instructions
Case study: Discussing Change & Innovation in Business (Individual) (100 marks)
The pace of change, increasing complexity, and uncertainty across many industries have significantly impacted organisations both locally and globally. While some organisations have struggled to adapt and innovate, others have successfully adjusted, survived, or even thrived in rapidly changing environments.
This assessment is composed of two parts. You are required to:
- Produce a written report developed in Cadmus AND
- Discuss the contents of your report in a one-on-one meeting with your kaiako.
Important: The final assessment judgement (marks) will be based on both the written report and the oral discussion. While the report content is assessed through the written submission, evidence provided during the oral discussion will also be considered when determining the student’s understanding, application of concepts, and authenticity of the work.
Assessment Criteria
Part A: Written Report Instructions

Part B: Oral Discussion instructions
This oral discussion of the report will be guided by your kaiako (tutor). You will be expected to answer questions about the content in your written report, to demonstrate your understanding. The one-to-one presentation serves as authentication of your work and is a requirement to pass this assessment task. Simply completing the report, without a presentation, means that your assessment task is “incomplete” and will not be marked.
Marks are allocated to how you justified content in the report, and the criteria provided. While 5 marks are allocated specifically for professional presentation during the oral discussion, evidence provided during the discussion may also be considered when assessing your understanding of, and engagement with, the report content against the assessment criteria.
- This oral discussion will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams, 10 minutes will be allocated.
- Students will be expected to book a scheduled oral assessment via Moodle at the times provided
- To verify identity, students are to have a computer camera and sound during the discussion. The library has computers available to use and quiet rooms available to book.
- Students are expected to have arranged a quiet environment where they are able to engage in the discussion.

Your assessment submission consists of both:
- The written report submitted through Cadmus, by the due date and time.
- The oral discussion with your tutor, booked by student via Moodle.
