Assessment Purpose
To analyse Pacific worldviews (including values, beliefs and practices) and discuss their relationship with cultural competency in nursing. To explain health inequalities and the impacts on Pacific peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand, and how the application of a Pacific health model can influence health outcomes. Through critical reflection, describe your understanding of Pacific worldviews, cultural awareness and cultural competency within nursing practice.

- Discuss how these can enhance nursing practice and influence the health outcomes for Pacific peoples living in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Health Status of Pacific Peoples (~1,000 words)
- Identify one prevalent health condition affecting Pacific peoples (adults or children) living in Aotearoa New Zealand and describe why this is a concern. (Use current Aotearoa New Zealand health data published within the last 5 years.)
- Explain health inequalities and discuss the influence of migration on Pacific peoples living in Aotearoa New Zealand. Identify and discuss two social determinants that affect the health and wellbeing of Pacific peoples diagnosed with your chosen health condition.
- Select a Pacific health model (not the Fonofale Model of Health; refer to Canvas for other Pacific health models).
