Overview

Task 1: Eligibility and licensing – Sections of the Real Estate Agents Act 2008 (REA Act)
In this task you are required to read the following five scenarios and answer the questions for each scenario.

Scenario 1
Your friend Jane has seen how successful you have become as a real estate salesperson. She has called into your office to ask your advice on how she could become a licensed real estate salesperson.
a. What qualification is required?

Scenario 2
Kiri has been a licensee salesperson for two years. She knows that the agency owner is wanting to employ a Branch Manager in the future. She is keen to progress her career and has asked you how she could become a Branch Manager.
a. What qualification is required?
b. What additional licensing criteria will Kiri have to meet to be a Branch Manager?
Scenario 3
Joseph has started his course to become a real estate salesperson but is now concerned that he may not meet the criteria to be licensed, as he had a dishonesty conviction for fraud from 14 years ago.
a. Will Joseph meet the licensing criteria when he applies for a salesperson’s licence?
b. Explain the reason for your answer and identify the section of the REA Act that applies.
