Part 1 – Interview
For this first part of the project, you are to select one individual and conduct a semi structured online interview about specific aspects of their job.
Interviewee (criteria)
- They must be 18 years or older employed full-time, but not self-employed;
- Work for an organisation that employs >50 staff; (as a guideline)
- Feel free to interview a friend or a relative; make sure they meet the criteria above

Proposed Interview Questions
- What aspects of your role do you find stressful? Please provide examples (if needed, prompt with Demands elements of the JD-R model: role overload, poor work relationships, demands from clients, role ambiguity…)
- How much control do you have over your job and how do you manage your stress levels at work? Please provide examples (if needed, prompt with Resources elements of the JD-R model: co-worker support, coaching, feedback, autonomy…)
- How does your manager/leader and your organisation support staff health and wellbeing? What programmes/systems does your organisation have in place for wellbeing and/or stress management?
- What initiatives/systems/changes would you like to see implemented at work to support your wellbeing and performance?

- If you audio-record the interview to make further notes later, be sure to get the interviewee’s consent first.
Part 2 – Research-Informed Discussion
Interview Summary (+/-500 words) (10marks)
State the interviewee’s job role and sector and provide a summary of each interview question. Be sure to present the exact question you asked (as a heading), followed by a summary of the interviewee’s response in your own words (not a transcript).
Research-Informed Discussion (+/-2000 words)
Write a research-based discussion covering the following:
- Theoretical overview/description of the job demands-resources model (15 marks)
- A discussion of whether and how the matters arising from the interview reflect the findings and recommendations outlined in the literature. (40 marks)
- For example, if your interviewee informs you that their organisation does not support/fund stress management and wellbeing initiatives, what does the research indicate are potential consequences for employee wellbeing and performance?
- Based on the issues identified in the interview and your review of the literature, provide a set of recommendations for this organisation to improve its stress and wellbeing management and resilience-promoting practices (15 marks)
- How would you expect the recommendations/changes to be received, based on your knowledge of individual response to change? (10 Marks)
(The assignment is graded out of 100. The remaining 10 marks are allocated to presentation and quality of writing).
