Assessment Tasks

The assignment needs to be based on the Maori land and Maori building construction project allocated to your group. You work as part of a team using self and team management skills.

You are required to discuss the tasks below, together with consideration of the Maori Culture/tradition and Maori Value: Rangatiratanga (Weaving people together), Wakaritenga (Equity, access to resources), Kaitiakitanga (Looking after each other), Mahi Kotahitanga (Working together), and Ngākau Māhaki (Respect)

Task 1. Project brief

• Outline project background information and client’s key demands.

• Select one building element to be subcontracted.

Task 2. Tender documentation 

Use the tables provided to answer the following questions (you only need to complete the tables, no more writing is required):

• List all required tender documents. Explain why they are the required tender documents of the project subcontract works,

• Explain how to make the tender documents support Maori Value.

• Identify the contractual risks the main contractor might have.

• Explain the amendments that are required towards NZS3910 Special Conditions and other tender documents to mitigate the main contractor’s risk.

• Provide a checklist containing pre-qualification criteria specific to the project subcontract works. Explain how the criteria contribute to screen and verify the subcontractors’ capacity.

• Identify three most important pre-qualification criteria specific to the project subcontract works, explain why they are important.

• Outline the limitations of tender pre-qualification that are specific to the project subcontract works.

Task 4. Tender Evaluation Method

Since there is no method is perfect to evaluate tenders, various methods are available to meet different client’s and contractors ’ tendering requirements/needs. The tender evaluation options that could be used in this project are Lowest Price Conforming Tender Evaluation Method and Weighted
Attributes Tender Evaluation Method. You have been nominated to work with the tender evaluation panel for this project and your advice on the following is required:

• Provide a clear explanation of the project-specific benefits and limitations of each method mentioned/identified above.

• Apart from Pre-qualification, the other ways to overcome the limitations in each method above.

• Recommend the most suitable tender evaluation method for this project and explain your reasoning.

Task 5. Task Statement 

• Complete the provided Task Statement Form (Appendix 1 of this assignment brief).

• This is a compulsory and absolute requirement of this assignment. If the Task Statement is not attached, you will be considered to have failed this assignment.
