PROP342 Assignment 2

Individual or Group   Upload by Midday Frid 29 May 2026

Instruction

  • You need to form a group of 4 for this assignment. You can use the break within the Thur lecture for group forming or social media / Ed Discussion. Formal group allocation by the lecturer is not proposed. Groups of 5 or less than 4 are subject to approval by the lecturer. Note that it will be difficult to score the marks for team dynamics if the numbers are low.
  • Find and look at a current Auckland property development that has reached at least the concept stage (can include those under construction or completed over say the past year or so). Details could be obtained from a website, promotional material or by inspection. Developments outside Auckland may be permissible but with the approval of the lecturer.
  • For your selected development draw some conclusions on the strengths and weaknesses of the development. Address the whole development and the way it is being progressed and not just the marketing details. Provide your insights on what would have been or is important (depending on where the development is in the development process).
  • Consider possible improvements and key points that would be critical. Be courageous with this, it is appreciated that you probably will not have enough detail to substantiate your views.  You can make appropriate assumptions.
  • Make a recorded presentation file (video and audio) to communicate the findings. The guideline for the length is 5min. Each group member must participate at some time in the presentation. For approved groups with 5 persons the time guideline is 7min and for 3 persons 6min.
  • You are encouraged to be courageous and innovative! This is an opportunity for you to develop your skills, you will not lose marks by being too original or trying something special that ‘fizzes’. You will however score marks for trying.
  • The presentation can be a PowerPoint file with audio and camera overlay playing to a running time within the above timeframe. This is quite simple to prepare. Your PowerPoint slides are prepared in the usual way. Then in the main menu select Menus then appear with options where to record and the cameo (device camera image). You can talk using your built-in microphone and camera whilst you move the slides forward at the speed you desire to create your presentation. A good feature is that you can go back and record again over particular slides if you wish.  The outcome will be in one file that can be uploaded in Canvas, preferably as .pptx. No need to export to slide show or MP4, (these dramatically increase file size). Older PowerPoint versions also carry this recording feature.  Other file types are also acceptable if necessary.
  • Each group member is to submit an identical file with a list of the group member full names on the first slide. The presentation will be assessed as a group and each member will receive the same assessment grade.

  1. Advise the lecturer prior to submission.
  2. Outline which areas of the assignment/presentation the student played a significant role.
  3. Write in addition to the presentation a 200-300 word statement on these particular aspects.
