Present a case study (in no more than 300 words) that involves violence and/or trauma for a person and their whānau or family or a group of people or community within the context of Aotearoa. Undertake a critical analysis of this case study using socioecological and sociocultural frameworks for violence and trauma, supported by relevant theories and literature. Make recommendations on

(a) the implications for Māori and intergenerational violence and trauma, and (b) how practice, in general, could be improved.

This assignment involves critiquing a violence and/or trauma case study using socioecological and sociocultural frameworks for violence and trauma and making recommendations for Māori and general practice improvements.

The presentation provides an opportunity for students to relay and share key insights from the year’s learning with their class peers and lecturers. It is important the presentation starts with an explanation of your specific case study for review and analysis. The connection between the case study and the critical evaluation should follow the case study explanation providing your audience with key insights from your critical examination and your recommendations for Māori and general practice improvements. When your recorded presentation is shared with your student peers, they are encouraged to provide feedback and critique to support and strengthen your critical examination and your recommendations for practice improvements. The presentation should include a reference list of relevant literature, research and supporting references, specific to this course content.
