Description
Step one: Analyse common challenges in the forgiveness process
- Provide background on your practice and describe prevalent forms of trauma in your workplace or community.
- Define and critically discuss forgiveness, including Biblical perspectives: Explore the tension and dilemma surrounding love and forgiveness, particularly for survivors dealing with unfixable suffering, brokenness and injustice. Examine the challenges trauma survivors encounter in their forgiveness process including premature pressure from others to forgive.
- Apply the ‘Te Whare Tapa Whā’ model to identify the survivor’s challenges across emotional, mental, physical and spiritual dimensions.
Step two: Evaluating your role as a facilitator
- Discuss the process of forgiveness and the forgiveness journey using Phil Halstead’s research.
- Discuss your roles as a facilitator: Based on Halstead’s work, analyse safe practice principles to ensure survivors’ emotional, mental, physical and spiritual safety throughout their healing and forgiveness journey.
