Course learning outcomes
Learning Outcome 1: Evaluate the role of leadership and emerging leadership paradigms and practices in the context of contemporary organizations in Aotearoa NZ and globally.
Background to this assessment
The digitization of a vast amount of operations, products, and services has occurred across NZ and the world in a very short space of time accelerated by the COVID-19 crisis. This is the first assignment in the MAPM8.200 Leadership course and draws on the theories and content in Topics 1-3 available in EITOnline.
This assessment focuses on the role of leadership in supporting and driving digital transformation in businesses. Please spend some time carefully reading all of the information provided in this document including the assessment marking criteria at the end.
Assessment task:
Prepare a business report to the management of a company that is currently undergoing (or you believe requires) a digital transformation over the next 12 months. Your report must:
1. Critically evaluate the current leadership challenges facing the company; and
2. Recommend appropriate leadership strategies/approaches that will help the company succeed in this digital transformation. The company selected either must be familiar to you or be publicly listed in a major world market and it is strongly recommended that you confirm your selection with your facilitator prior to beginning.
