- A definition of a multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Task 2 you need to choose one of the situations to accurately describe a challenging situation you have faced in the workplace when working collaboratively alongside a person with complex needs. Choose one of the situations to describe. Situation 1 Describe a situation when you cared for a tangata whaiora with complex needs whose family and whānau did not understand why the person was experiencing difficulties, or why certain procedures were being carried out.
Make sure you cover the following:
- Outline the context and setting, provide background information about the tangata whaiora, their family and whānau and the multidisciplinary team that you worked with.
- Did this situation cause distress to the family and whānau/tangata whaiora/yourself?
- How did you deal with the situation?
- Which collaborative principle did your interactions with the family and whānau come under?
- Who did you report to or suggest the tangata whaiora, their family and whānau speak to about their care?
- How would you have worked differently with the tangata whaiora if they were part of a different cultural group (for example, if they were Pākehā). How might you have done things differently if they were Pasifika, Māori or Asian instead? (word limit 600 words)
