Write a report that critically examines the impact of the colonisation process on tamariki Māori educational outcomes. In your examination include reference to mainstream education assimilation policies that followed the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, such as:

• the Native Schools Act 1867
• the Education Act 1877
• the Tohunga suppression Act of 1907.

Task 2: Ensuring educational success for tamariki Māori | Te whakatūturu i te angitu mātauranga mā ngā tamariki Māori

Based on the impacts you examined in Task 1, critically evaluate the Education and Training Act 2020 to discuss improvements to Tiriti-based teaching practice.

In your discussion include:

• how your improvements promote mana enhancing teaching practice, and challenges negative attitudes towards te reo Māori
• how your improvements ensure educational success for tamariki Māori in your education setting.

You will need to include te reo Māori and tikanga and refer to specific Kaupapa Māori frameworks or models in your answer.
