All closed book exams must be completed using the Safe Exam Browser. Students must not use any unfair means, including unauthorised resources, communication, or tools, during examinations or assessments.
The following penalties may apply if you are found to have been dishonest in your assessment:

For this assignment, you will create and upload a PowerPoint Presentation:
Your PowerPoint presentation must include:
- A PowerPoint presentation using the embedded voice-over / cameo video feature with supporting PowerPoint notes.
Your PowerPoint must include a maximum of 10 main slides (in addition to your introduction and reference slides).
In addition to the uploaded PowerPoint Presentation, you will need to.
- Engage with your group members: Post one critical question to each of your other group members. Each question requires a significant academic response. Questions, need to be specific to something presented in the presentation. The person asking the questions needs to undertake further reading around the topic area before formulating the question.
The question could be based around the following examples.
- How does ‘this’ research article (based on a relevant research article that is not discussed in the presentation) influence the conclusion drawn in the presentation?
- What is the potential impact of x on y in the context of z?
- How could this knowledge be transferred to another environment/population group, such as (use a specific example of a relevant environment, population group etc.)?
Respond to Questions: Student is to respond to all questions that the other group members ask about their presentation. Responses should provide a clear rationale and be supported by appropriate literature.
Marking Criteria
Task 1: Introduction and Formulating the Research Question
- Identify a Nursing issue for your presentation: Clearly introduce a relevant clinical nursing practice that can be reviewed through an evidence-based research approach.
- Establish its Significance: Provide a description of why this nursing issue is important and how researching best practice could impact nursing practice within New Zealand.
- Develop a PICO Research Question: Formulate a precise, answerable, and well-structured research question using the PICO framework (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome or an alternative recognised research question format) to guide the literature search or use of an alternative recognised research question format. Demonstrate the use
of a framework/question format.
Task 2: Literature Review and Appraisal
- Literature Selection: Identify and select 4 or 5 appropriate research articles that directly relevant to your PICO question.
- Quality Appraisal: Critically appraise 2 of these articles for overall quality with reference to any strengths and limitations.
- Summarise article findings: Summarise the key findings across the 2 articles, identifying main themes and outcomes.
Task 3: Evidence-Based Intervention Recommendations
- Formulate Evidence-Based Practice Recommendations: Present actionable recommendations for the specific nursing intervention, supported by evidence from your literature review.
- Provide Research-Based Rationale: Give a clear and logical rationale for each recommendation with links back to your reviewed and appraised literature.
Task 4: Implementation of the research evidence.
- Nursing Leadership: Examine and discuss the role of nursing leadership in championing the task 3 recommendations and implementation process.
- Change Management: Describe how you would apply change management principles (e.g., Kotter’s 8-Step Model, Lewin’s Change Model) to address potential barriers and facilitate the adoption of your recommendations in a clinical setting.
Task 5: Forum Participation
This task evaluates your engagement with your peers in an academic context.
- Academic Questioning: Construct a forum question based on another student’s presentation that critically examines their research problem, methodology, recommendations, implementation, or change management aspects.
- Question Response: Providing a critically reflective, professional, and evidence-informed answer to the questions asked about your presentation.

4. Select 4-5 Research Articles
- Choose relevant, recent, and credible studies addressing your PICO question.

5. Appraise the ‘Quality’ of 2 of your selected Articles
- Summarise the strengths and limitations of each article.
- Assess methodological validity, bias, and reliability.
- Use appraisal tools (e.g., CASP, JBI checklists).
6. Provide a Summary of Overall Findings
