  • [LO #4] Develop a personal self-reflection relating to life/career purpose that includes a self-evaluation at the start of the course, peer and lecturer input, and a developmental plan setting out objectives and strategies for career advancement in the short to medium term.

This assessment is weighted at 35% of the overall course weighting and is marked out of 100.

ePortfolio Overview

The ePortfolio is designed for you to showcase your professional identity by selecting and uploading key “evidence” to a user-friendly website builder such as Wix or WordPress. Key items include your CV, examples of projects or work from your MM/MBI/PGDM/PGDBI courses or from your professional experience, and personal reflections.

This ePortfolio will provide insights into your professional persona, your reflections on the learning experience in this course, and your future career planning. You may continue to build on this portfolio throughout other courses, allowing you to graduate with a comprehensive showcase of your best work to share with potential employers or business partners.

The final ePortfolio is an opportunity for evaluation on how effectively you communicate your business professionalism and present yourself to the outside world. It should provide insights into:

  • Who you are as a business professional
  • Your reflections on the learning journey in this course
  • Your plans for ongoing professional development and career aspirations

You will also plan and deliver a 10-minute (max) oral/visual showcase (presentation) of your ePortfolio.

e-Portfolio Specification/Content

Your online portfolio (e-Portfolio) should contain/present:

  1. “Biographical” section (15 marks), including the following elements:
    • Introduction – containing:
      • Personal Introduction: A brief overview of who you are, including your current role/status.
      • Career Aspirations: A statement about your career aspirations and goals – your purpose and direction (i.e. obtaining your MM/MBI/PGDM/PGDBI qualification).
    • Self-Evaluation – containing a statement about your strengths and areas for development. Use the (Whetten and Cameron) prescribed textbook chapter 1 for material and guidance.
    • LinkedIn Profile Link – A link to your updated LinkedIn profile (create one, if you have not done so already). The LinkedIn profile should contain a profile summary, education/qualifications, work experience, skills, and with a professional photo of you.
    • Contact information – Basic contact details and/or a contact form, enabling visitors to contact you for networking, collaboration or inquiries.
  2. “Project Work” section (15 marks):Provide (at least) one example of your project-related work from your study (i.e. current/previously taken courses) at ICL or from previous work experience, that you feel is good work. Imagine that the viewer of your ePortfolio/website does not know the context/background – explain what the project task/challenge was, the goals/objectives, how you were involved, how you approached it and what the outcomes were.
  3. “Professional Development” section (25 marks), including:
    • Personal & Professional Learning Goals (PPLG) – Develop a set of well-defined learning objectives and career strategies for your professional growth. You PPLG should contain:
      • Personal Learning Goals: Focus on skills or competencies you want to develop (i.e. leadership, project management, industry-specific skills etc.).
      • Professional Learning Goals: Focus on specific career objectives (i.e. securing a management position, starting a business, expanding your network etc.).
    • CV – Provide an accurate, professionally formatted/presented and updated-to-current CV, suitable for use in New Zealand.
  4. “Reflective Learning” section (25 marks), including:
    • Five (5) “posts” or journals: Write five reflective “posts” (journals) each (with 200-350 words) showing your thoughts/reflections on specific learnings and experiences in any of the ICL courses so far, where you feel you learnt something specific, showing how it has been useful. For each post, reflect on:
      • The specific learning or skill you acquired.
      • How this learning was useful to you (e.g. in your academic work, current/future professional life or personal development).
      • How you plan to apply or have already applied this learning in a real-world context.
    • One peer evaluation “post”: Write a reflective post/journal based on input from fellow students/ICL peers.
      • This could be feedback on your teamwork, presentation or any aspect of your academic or professional development.
      • Summarise the feedback and reflect on how it has influenced your learning or development.
      • Explain any changes or improvements you have made (or could make) as a result of the feedback.

Assessment Submission

The following three items are to be submitted to Canvas before the specified due dates/times.

  1. ePortfolio Web link/URL: Submit a link to your (live; published) ePortfolio.
  2. ePortfolio Documentation: To provide written evidence of ePortfolio content, submit a structured report (document in DOCX format) with screenshots of the content in your ePortfolio. IMPORTANT: Also include the URL to your ePortfolio on the title page.
  3. ePortfolio Showcase: Create and deliver an oral/visual 10-minute (max) showcase (presentation) of your ePortfolio in a pre-recorded video (MP4) using Zoom, ScreenRec or similar software. Submit the web link (NOT the MP4 file itself) of the stored recording to Canvas.

NOTE:

A penalty of 10% of the total marks that can be awarded for the assessment will be deducted automatically for each day an assignment is late without an approved extension.

Assessments submitted later than five calendar days after the due date without an approved extension will be regarded as ‘Did Not Complete’ (DNC) and receive zero for that assessment.
