Assignment 1 relates to the following learning outcomes:
LO1. Critically explore the main principles and theoretical concepts of personality and development.
LO2. Critically evaluate key theoretical concepts in personality and development across the lifespan.
LO3. Apply theoretical concepts in personality and development to real world contexts.
LO4. Present work at the appropriate academic standard.

Instructions

This assessment will allow you to apply trait theory to your own personality.

1. Complete the “Big Five Inventory” (BFI) in your tutorial session in week 2, and score your inventory.
2. Write a case study to describe your personality based on your scores (suggested word count: 500 words). LO3.
3. Write a critical discussion of the strengths and limitations of the Five Factor Model (FFM) and BFI for understanding personality. Use the research literature and refer back to your personal case study (suggested word count: 1000 words). LO1, LO2 and LO3.
4. Cite a minimum of six peer-reviewed journal articles. These can be found via the AUT library search function. LO4,
5. Include your scored BFI as an appendix (questions and scoring pages; this is not included in the word count). LO4.
