Task 1: Teaching strategies
- Identify and explain at least three teaching strategies in your specialised learning area that have been proven effective in enhancing engagement and achievement for Māori and Pacific tamariki/rangatahi.

(15 marks) - Select one of the strategies and develop an action plan for its implementation in a specific localised unit of work for NCEA (Levels 1–3).
- Include the curriculum area, subject, NCEA level, duration of the unit and any other relevant details.
- Outline step-by-step how you could implement the strategy into your teaching practice (including specific activities, materials, resources, methods of assessment, best practices for teaching and learning, classroom environment or community interaction, where appropriate).

Task 2: Evaluation and reflection
Evaluate the (potential or observed) impact of the applied strategy (from Task 1c) on ākonga Māori and Pacific learners’ engagement and achievement data. In your evaluation, you should:
- include a discussion of indicators of successful outcomes, supported by evidence from your own observations in classrooms and/or related literature
- reflect on how this assessment has informed your understanding of the importance of culturally responsive pedagogy.

Overall presentation and style
Marks will be awarded for overall presentation, including grammar, spelling, appropriate acknowledgements through in-text citations and references in APA (7th edition) style throughout the assessment. Include a full reference list at the end of the assessment.
