Undertake a small-scale inquiry into a curriculum topic to produce a report and presentation. Select a topic from within your chosen curriculum field and frame an inquiry question or questions that you wish to explore, remembering this inquiry is based on you and your practice.
Some examples of selecting a curriculum topic within your chosen curriculum field and possible inquiry questions are provided in PMA under assignment three. Collaborate with your early childhood setting colleagues to ensure that the topic is of interest and value to your early childhood setting as well as to yourself.
Complete ethical requirements in respect to gaining consent from your Liaison Teacher and approval from your lecturer before beginning the inquiry in your early childhood setting. It is important to remember the inquiry is about your topic and your teaching practice. Once ethical requirements are met, maintain a journal and undertake analysis focused on your inquiry question(s). Read the literature around your inquiry question(s) to provoke and inform your journal. Complete a literature review on your inquiry question and then make links between this review and your own findings from your journal. Lastly, present one of the primary articles from your literature review to your early childhood setting colleagues.
